Otis Williams is a well-known American baritone vocalist. He is a songwriter and record producer. Otis is regarded as the founder and sole original surviving member of the Motown vocal group ‘Temptations.’ He also had ownership of the Temptation name. Otis Williams is one of the few surviving members of The Temptations vocal group. The living legend continues to sing his way into the hearts of millions of people all over the world.

Otis Williams used his mother’s maiden name as his stage name and performer. Otis Williams and the Siberians, the El Domingoes, and the Distance are among the many singing groups. Distance became a local hit. In 1959, he co-wrote a song called “Come On” with their producer Johnnie Mae Matthews.

Similarly, he posted an offer from ‘Berry Gordy’ of ‘Motown Records,’ prompting his bandmates Elbridge “Al” Bryant and Melvin Franklin to leave the Distance. In March 1961, Williams, Bryant, and Franklin were joined by Eddie Kendricks and Paul Williams from The Primes to form The Elgins, who signed to Motown as “The Temptations.”Over the course of the band’s five-decade career, The Temptation became a successful act in black music.

The band’s familiar singers include David Ruffin, Dennis Edwards, former Distant Richard Street, Damon Harris, Ali-Ollie Woodson, Ron Tyson, Theo Peoples, and Ray Davis. The band also included former Spinners singer G.C. Cameron. Otis Williams and Melvin Franklin had promised not to leave the music group.
